On Saturday 27th September 2014 Lofthouse Brass Band will be holding their annual Patron’s Concert at St John’s Church in Wakefield.
As this year is the centenary of World War 1, the band and their MD, Andrew Whitaker will be dedicating part of the concert to those men who fought for our country and never returned. Music from the era will be played with a few well know war time tunes. There will also be a debut piece written especially for the band by Alan Fernie.
The band’s principal cornet, James Whitaker told us ‘the world wars are something that are close to many hearts in the local community and the band like to do be involved wherever possible. We work closely with various branches of the Royal British Legion (Outwood & Lofthouse, Normanton & Altofts, Pontefract) throughout the year and look forward to the remembrance day events in November. There are some great pieces on the programme and with a special deal for anyone who joins our Patron’s Scheme (see below), so make sure you book tickets early in order not to miss out.'
Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from lofthousebrassband.org.uk or from the band secretary on 07876 800 929. Alternatively, you can join our Patron’s Scheme and receive tickets for this concert, a copy of the band’s CD (usual price £7) and an invite to pre-concert drinks and nibbles, as well as much more through out the year for only £8!
