On Sunday 21st December 2014, Lofthouse Brass Band, Lofthouse B Band and Lofthouse Acorns (beginners) held their annual band awards.

Edward Royston picked up the Lofthouse Acorn’s most improved player award. Edward started playing less than a year ago and has come on leaps and bounds. He has put in some really hard work over the past few months and even played with the senior band a few weeks ago.

The B Band most improved player award went to Jess Suggitt. B Band MD Jayne Richardson commented ‘Jess worked really hard this year. She is a real asset to the band and is always pushing herself to progress. Well done to her and keep up the good work Jess!’.

The senior band ‘most improved player’ awarded by MD Andrew Whitaker, went to 2nd Euphonium, Dan Watson in recognition of his outstanding progress over the past 12 months, whilst the Percussion section, headed up by Bill Bray took the ‘Section of the Year’ award.
The band’s committee also select their ‘Band Person of the year’. This award is for the player who they feel has not only played well throughout the year, but also gone that extra mile. This award was also given to Dan Watson for his outstanding commitment and hard work that he does for the band outside of the rehearsal room.

Senior band MD, Andrew Whitaker took the' player’s player of the year’ award (chosen by the band members), for his commitment to the band in and out of rehearsal and also the fantastic recovery that he made after having spinal surgery earlier in the year. A big well done to Andrew!

The band are now looking forward to a well earned break and both MD and committee would like to thank all the players for all their commitment over the past year.

On behalf of the band we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2015.
