Early on Sunday 8th March, saw 11 bands Heralding the Dawn as they made their way to St George’s Hall in Bradford, ready to compete in the Yorkshire Regional Championships 2015.
The music chosen for all bands to perform was An English Pastorale, from the pen of Dean H. Jones. The piece in question depicted the seasons and reflected some of the grandeur of the English scenery which proved an inspiring source to write this 4 movement piece.
It was all about that bass for Lofthouse Brass Band (drawn to play number 4) as they took to the stage with 5 tubas. The piece was played outstandingly well and there was lots to admire, especially the approach of MD and application of his players (quote from 4BarsRest.com).
The band took the 3rd place bronze podium position just behind Oughtibridge Band and BD1 Brass.
Overall the band are very happy with the result and are looking forward to returning next year. The band would like to thank their MD, Andrew Whitaker for all the hard work and commitment he put in on the lead up to the contest. Also well done to all the players involved too!
