Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band would like to announce a host of new and old signings to the team ready for the Midlands area and beyond.
After a few months looking and auditioning the band would like to welcome Adrian Fletcher on to the Principal cornet chair. Adrian brings a wealth of experience with him having played with bands at all levels. We would also like to welcome Lucy Clipsom and Annetta Ives to the Cornet line which brings the Cornet line up to full strength; both players have played with bands around the area and bring some fresh ideas to the band.
Moving on to the Horn line we would like to welcome back Rob Smith who has played with the band for many years and left last May but due to changes in his work plans he is now back to help the band in the 2nd section.
The final two players we would like to welcome back are Simon Smith on to Eb Bass with Simon Whyatt moving on to Bb Bass and Catherine Rogers on to the percussion line, both players have played with the band before and are now back after playing with other bands in the area.
Commenting on the new arrivals MD Ian Knapton said “These new signings really show our commitment to keep progressing as we have in the last few years. The players that have left before Christmas due to family issues and work related problems gave the band great commitment over their time and we would like to thank them for that. But the band move on and we haven’t wasted our time in finding the right replacements”
All the new players will be making their first public appearance with the band at the North East Midlands Contest on Sunday 23rd February.
