Special Porthleven Town Band Rehearsal at the Hall for Cornwall

Porthleven Town Band are busy finalising their preparations for the Bugle West of England Bandsmen Festival and will be having a special rehearsal at the Hall for Cornwall with renowned conductor and BBC Radio 2’s ‘Listen to the Band’ presenter Mr Frank Renton.
Mr Renton, guest conductor of Grimethorpe Colliery Band, will take a two hour session with Porthleven Town Band, working on the test piece ‘Petite Suite de Ballet’ by Eric Ball. Musical Director.
Tom Bassett said ‘we’re all excited to meet Mr Renton and it will be another great experience for our players. We will all benefit from an afternoon of performing on stage, just before the Grimethorpe concert, and from meeting Mr Renton’.
Principal cornet Chloe Billing said ‘I’m excited and nervous about meeting the conductor of Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Mr Renton. It should be a really memorable experience’.
Chairman Lynne Lees commented ‘on behalf of the band I would like to thank Mr Renton and the Hall for Cornwall for being so accommodating and helpful’.
