On Sunday 13th October, a very special concert will take place at Christchurch, Great Yarmouth, with Great Yarmouth Brass joining forces with the members of Great Yarmouth Youth Brass. You can expect a wide range of music from the Band to keep you entertained, ranging from popular classics to original compositions. The afternoon will be conducted by the band’s musical director Colin Swaep and the youth band conducted by local music teacher Richard Ward.
2013 has so far been a very special year for the members of Great Yarmouth Brass, who are celebrating their 40th Anniversary year. Originally formed as the East Anglian School Band back in 1973, some of the original band are still active members of the band who are delighted to see the next generation of Brass players progressing so well.
Great Yarmouth Brass have also had a successful year at contest with a first placing at the East Anglian Brass Band Association Spring Festival in Norwich and a runner up position at the London and Southern Counties Championships in March, which led to the band earning itself a prestigious appearance at the National Brass Band Finals in September at Cheltenham.
Future Brass will start at 2 p.m. and tickets are on sale via the band website www.gybrass.org.uk or limited availability on the door at just £4.00 or telephone the band Secretary to reserve your ticket on 01493 844242. All profits from the afternoon will go to the youth band.
Great Yarmouth Youth Brass is always on the lookout for new players, so if you want to try your hand at Brass playing, please call the youth band secretary on 07891834914 for more details. Quality instruments are available if needed and there is no membership fee payable.
