More news from Whiston Festival of Brass
Having spent the morning perusing ont’ internet I finally came across the best weather forecast, well best out of 5. With the sun now guaranteed all we needed now were some great Bands to provide some great music.
Needless to say there was an excellent turn out of bands and supporters at the 3rd Whiston Festival of Brass held on the weekend in the picturesque village near Rotherham in Yorkshire.
Spectacular entertainment
The crowd were entertained by an opening Concert provided by the Frickley & South Elmsall band. This included a short interlude for the official opening by the Mayor of Rotherham; Cllr. John Foden.

The bands that were there provided wonderful entertainment for listeners as they marched through the village. They then took to our state of the art, stage to perform a 20 minute programme of entertaining pieces. There was our own reasonably priced bar looking after the thirsty bandsmen and women! As well as the thousands of supporters that was there to be entertained in the sweltering weather
Adjudication was by Mr Stan Lippeatt who officiated over the main senior band event as well as the Training/Junior Band contest. Mr Lippeatt did say “What a fantastic Contest, I’ll be back next year even if it’s just for a beer.”
Concert ending
The day was rounded off with a superb evening concert that featured a Local group “The Makeshifts” that kept the local’s dancing till late evening. Once all the Brass Band aficionados had left
