Aveley & Newham Band have announced that former Besses o' th' Barn player Steve Hopper has joined the band on soprano cornet.
A spokesman for the band said: "We are thrilled to be able to announce the signing of Steve Hopper as our new soprano cornet!
Hailing from Lancashire Steve has "been there, done that" and performed at all the major contests. As a player at Besses of the Barn Steve was much in demand by other bands, and has made numerous appearances in the past with the big boys. He joins us following a spell at the Clacton on Sea Co-Operative Band. Welcome aboard, Steve!
He joins as the band begins their preparations for the Butins Mineworkers Contest in January followed by the London and Southern Counties Regional Championships in March.
