More news from Cornwall Youth Brass Band
The Cornwall Youth Brass Band is making its annual appeal for young musicians wishing to work with the top brass band conductors and soloists to join them for their new season, which starts in September. With eight monthly rehearsals and two residential Courses from September until April each year there is plenty of opportunity to make new friends and enjoy the benefit of working with the local Tutors as well as the Guest Conductors.
This season the evergreen Richard Evans is Guest Conductor at Christmas, along with Owen Farr, Principal Tenor Horn of the Cory Band as Guest Soloist. At Easter we welcome Ian Porthouse, Musical Director of the Tredegar Band. They will be coaching and conducting the Band during the four day Residential Courses, along with our team of Local Tutors.
The chance to work closely with the best known and talented musicians from the brass band world can only improve the all round musicianship of the members, to the benefit of their Parent Bands as well their own development. This was confirmed by one Musician who left the Band recently after seventeen Courses to go to Music College, and who said that,
‘Without the Cornwall Youth Brass Band I would not be the player I am today and would not have had the wonderful experiences that have come my way at this point in my life.’
Young brass and percussion players who are interested in joining the eighty strong Band can find all the details of membership and the simple Audition on The Cornwall Youth Brass Band Web Site at, www.cybb.co.uk
