The Cornwall Youth Brass Band is fast turning into a Family affair with no less than sixteen pairs of siblings, one trio of sisters and one trio of brothers among its eighty six member musicians.
This year nineteen new musicians have joined the Band following their successful Auditions and quickly settled into their various positions at the first monthly Rehearsal held at Truro College. This started to prepare the Band for their Christmas Course under Guest Conductor Richard Evans, along with Guest Soloist, Tenor Horn player Owen Farr, repeating their successful visit to the Band in 2010.
The Easter Course next year brings a return visit from Ian Porthouse, who has recently led his own Band, Tredegar, to their second recent win at The British Open Brass Band Championships.
With its Team of Local Tutors, lead by Conductors, Alan Pope, Aaron Harvey and Jeremy Willcock the Band is looking forward to another successful season, with the added bonus of two scheduled Concerts in the prestigious Hall for Cornwall in Truro early next year.
A Registered Charity, the Cornwall Youth Brass Band is managed entirely by its large team of voluntary Trustees and helpers who ensure the young musicians enjoy the challenge of working with the best Conductors and Soloists available, as well as making new friends from among the local brass bands, of whom no less than thirty two are represented in the CYBB.
