COVENTRY FESTIVAL BAND have been invited to work closely with the Touring Theatre Consortium during 2014 in their UK production of the stage play 'Brassed Off'.
The band have been asked by the play's Director and production staff to 'play the role' of Grimley Colliery Band when the stage show visits the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, in April 2014.
The 'job' consists of the band playing live on stage in all of the performances, playing many of the favourite tunes that were featured in the original movie. The band's ranks will be bolstered by actors during the performances including of course the flugel player 'Gloria' who plays the famous Rodriguez Concerto d'Aranjuez
Josh Hughes The Bands Musical Director says that "Rehearsals for the event will be scheduled well in advance, with choreography sessions including a 'marching' scene planned for early next year."
"An opportunity like this proves that my hard work and dedication pays off, as well as that of the band members. We are excited for what outcomes this may have for the band in our future together."
The band can be heard at their concerts throughout the year.
