Band bid fond farewell

More news from Besses Boys Band

Following a good performance and result at the recent North West Area contest, Besses Boys Band are to bid a fond farewell to 3 members.

Lee Forde, Eb Bass, has been with the band for the past five years, joining in time for our performance at the 4th section national finals at Harrogate and being with the band through 2 promotions, several outstanding concert performances and contest wins. Lee and his wife have recently had their first child and Lee moves on to spend more time with his new family.

Adam Galloway has played for the band in two stints for the past 10 plus years with a short spell at Coppull & Standish band in between. Adam has played 2nd cornet and repiano before ending up as part of the solo cornet bench. Adam leaves the band to take up the opportunity to perform principal cornet with another band.

Whilst Steph Pain has only been with the for a little over a year she has made a huge impact. Steph came to the band to assist our contest performances at both the Preston and Area contests last year on front row cornet. After this Steph was offered the Flugel horn seat and jumped at the chance and over the course of the past year was a featured soloist at several concerts. Steph is having to take a back step from banding to pursue a new career path.

All three members were part of the recent wins at the Rochdale and Butlins contests.

MD James Holt said of the players

"I am very sad to see all three players move on, all three players have been integral parts in the Besses Boys Band machine and contributed to our recent contest successes. All three players leave with my, and the bands, best wishes and I hope all will remain in close contact with us."

Announcements about new players to the band are expected shortly.
