Tickets go on sale for top Brass Band Festival

Tickets have gone on sale this week for a Gala Charity Outdoor Evening Concert at one of the country’s top Brass Band Festival venues, with internationally renowned cornet player Alan Morrison taking centre stage.

The Saturday night Gala Charity Concert will be the highlight of this year’s Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival, which takes place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July on The Green at The Museum of Iron in Coalbrookdale, one of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s ten award winning sites.

With an anticipated 4000+ visitors expected to attend this year’s Festival, which will showcase around twenty of the finest brass bands from Shropshire and surrounding counties, the Gala concert features a selection of well-loved musical compositions played by the Jackfield Elcock Reisen Band, the Jaguar Landrover Band and mezzo soprano, Helen May.

Alan Morrison, who took up the position of Principal Cornet with the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band in 2003 and later became its Musical Director, will be playing with the Jaguar Landrover Band. His commitment to appear is seen as a real coup for the Festival.

Festival Chairman, Neil Fury, said:

“The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival’s reputation has grown enormously year on year and this year it looks like being even bigger and better. We are honoured that Alan Morrison has agreed to join us, and thanks to his presence at the Gala Concert we believe we are on target to increase the 4,000+ visitor numbers we had over the weekend last year.”

“The success of the Festival is, however, all down to our sponsors and volunteers and it couldn’t take place without the support and enthusiasm of the local community and the wonderful bands who all perform their amazing music free of charge.”

Entry to the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival is free. Tickets for the Gala concert cost £10, with all proceeds going to Severn Hospice. One free ticket is available for the Gala Concert with each block booking of ten tickets. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ironbridgebandfestival.co.uk or by calling the Ticketline on 07583 279608.
