Creswell Colliery Brass Band had a great evening on Saturday October 26th, with a ploughman's supper followed by a charity concert in aid of the Chesterfield-based charity CHARM (Combined Hope and Aid Relief Mission), raising funds for Malawi. The band was on fine form, playing to an appreciative audience in the lovely setting of Clowne Methodist Church. Members and friends of CHARM also gave presentations throughout the evening, with the band's rendition of African Funk providing a fitting (and foot-tapping) finale.
There was a notable 'first' for the band too - their first ever performance of the Malawi national anthem, specially arranged for the evening by Musical Director Jeff Shaw.
The band is looking forward to a busy winter season, with upcoming festive performances in and around Creswell, beginning on November 17th with Santa's arrival at Dobbies in Barlborough and continuing right up until December 22nd.
