In preparation for its part in Wolverton’s First World War centenary twinning trip to Belgium in June, Wolverton Town Band will be playing the music it’s chosen to perform in Ploegsteert, at a concert in Wolverton.
The performance is open to the public and will take place at Wolverton’s St George’s Church on Saturday 10th May, starting at 7:00pm.
The concert will be a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the twinning trip and will give those who aren’t able to go on the weekend in June the chance to hear the music selected for the occasion. In this the centenary year of the outbreak of the First World War, the band will be playing a mixture of tunes, some of which are associated with the war.
Tickets cost £5.00 and are available in advance from Wolverton Town Hall (01908 326800) or through band members. They can also be bought on the door. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes and raffle tickets will be available for sale in the interval.
The money raised from the concert will go to supporting the twinning weekend.
