Varley moves to Dyke Horn Position

Following the announcement of Jonathan Bates as the new solo horn, Black Dyke now confirm Helen Varley as their new 1st Horn.
Helen is from Bradford and was taught by James Shepherd. She is currently Solo Horn for Hammond's Saltaire Band, and the recently reformed James Shepherd Versatile Brass.
Helen said “It was a difficult decision to leave Hammond's after 5 wonderful years, but the opportunity to fulfil a lifetime ambition of joining Black Dyke was just too good to miss.”
Nicholas Childs commented" Helen is a quality player with the experience to enhance the section with Jonny and Alison".
Helen will officially start with Black Dyke at the end of October after finishing commitments at Hammond's
