Welcome to the 2015 Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community Annual Slow Melody and Ensemble Contest.

This year’s event is the 11th running of the event and hopefully it will continue to build on the previous events organised and run by Graham Bates and his direct family, as well as members of the Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community. Running of this year’s event has passed onto Tim Stell and although a change in personnel, we plan to run the contest generally as previous events with an emphasis on a friendly and informal atmosphere.

We have secured the services of David Hirst to adjudicate, who many will know for his Band and Solo playing, Conducting and also Adjudicating. David is a strong supporter of Slow Melody and Ensemble Contests and has a successful record of competing at similar events in his earlier years.

We are introducing a new class this year to encourage beginners to compete. The class will be for players of ANY age, young or old up to Grade Three Standard (ABRSM or Trinity) with a free choice of music. The intention is to introduce beginners into entering and competing in Contests such as these without having to play against more experienced players.

We are also permitting Online Entries for the first time this year, but would request payment is still made by Cheque or Bank Transfer prior to the closing date.

As usual we will be providing Hot Refreshments including, warm Breakfast Sandwiches and our infamous “Roast Beef” Lunch Sandwiches, as well as a large selection of Cakes, finished off with Teas, Coffees and Juice.

A massive thank you must go to all of our Local Supporters and Businesses for helping make the day and the Contest happen!!

Finally, a massive thank you must also go to you, the Competitors for taking an interest in the Contest and hopefully we will get to see you on Stage performing!!
