There are only two miles between the Wiltshire villages of Woodfalls and Downton but on Thursday both bands will bridge that distance and come together for an open rehearsal.
This will be a unique opportunity to hear two of the set works as the two bands prepare for the West of England Area Contest on Saturday 15th March.
Downton Band conducted by Paul Williams will be rehearsing and playing their second section piece ‘Variations On Maccabeus’ by Kevin Norbury, based on the hymn tune 'Thine Be the Glory'.
Dr Bob Childs, fresh from his success at the Yorkshire Areas with Grimethorpe, will take Woodfalls Band through their paces on ‘The Torchbearers’ by Peter Graham, music dedicated to the Eric Ball and quoting many of the composer’s most popular works.
The open rehearsal is being held in the Drama studio of Trafalgar School, Downton. It starts promptly at 8pm, is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
Open rehearsal is on 12th March, 8pm Breamore Road, Downton, Salisbury, SP5 3HN.
