Jonathan Evans has recently graduated from the University of Manchester where he read music. He will be studying for a masters in conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in 2014. He studied Trombone under Phil Goodwin and conducting with Mark Heron. He is a young and enthusiastic teacher of brass, specialising in Trombone. As a trombonist he has played in some of the finest brass bands and youth orchestras in the country, including Brighouse & Rastrick Band, The National Youth Brass Band of Wales, The North Wales Youth Orchestra, and Manchester University Symphony Orchestra. Jonathan teaches people of all ages and abilities, from children with special needs to some of the finest young players in the country. He is currently teaching music in a Manchester primary school as well as tutoring the trombones of the Territorial (National) Youth Band of the Salvation Army (aged 13-19). In addition he is the resident conductor of the Fairey Band, a UK Championship section brass band, and Musical Director of the University of Manchester Brass Band. Jonathan also provides private tuition at his home in West Didsbury in Manchester. He has started working with Diggle Band in November 2013 and taken us successfully for two successful concerts before Christmas. We are looking forward to working with Jonathan on the testpiece "Cry of the Mountains" for the North West Area which takes part on the 9th March 2014 at Blackpool and hope to complete our line-up with a prinicipal cornet soon.
