Just a month after their formal launch, Putney & Wimbledon Brass Band were given the chance to reach millions of viewers on ITV's Good Morning Britain and Lorraine this week.
Performing a selection of carols live from Winterville on Clapham Common on Monday morning, the band kickstarted Christmas for thousands of people across Britain, and helped to launch ITV's annual Christmas Competition.
It was an early start for band members, with taxis arriving to ferry them to the Common at 5.30am, but they were rewarded with six minutes of prime airtime on national television and a chance to enjoy some friendly banter with Andi Peters, their host for the day.
Sam Topp, the band's Musical Director, said:
It was a fantastic experience for the band, and we loved the friendly vibe of the whole production crew. I'm so proud that we have already reached millions of people and brought them some Christmas magic - in the way that only a brass band can. Sadly it wasn't enough to put Piers Morgan into a festive mood, but we can always make that our target for next year!
