Foden's Band is proud to announce that the 3rd Solo, Duet and Quartet contest will take place on the 2nd November at Sandbach School, Cheshire. This year sees further evolution of the past two successful years with the addition of percussion classes to partner the brass classes and new and exciting prizes from our sponsors.
Foden's Youth Band partner Besson Musical Instruments and Audi Macclesfield are again the sponsors of the brass classes which encompass 13 classes of solos, duets and quartets. New sponsors Bergerault are welcomed as the sponsor of the new percussion sections which include tuned and un-tuned classes.
The adjudicators are Besson artistes Alexis Demailly (principal cornet of Paris Brass Band) and Mike Dodd (principal euphonium of Grimethorpe Band) and Foden's own Mark Wilkinson and Mark Landon. Through our partnership there will also bethe opportunity with the RNCM to allow students to sit with the adjudicators and gain experience in performance adjudtication.
Working with their partners Besson Musical Instruments, there will be the opportunity for the winner of the Open Air Varie Solo class to enjoy an international trip to feature either with a band as a soloist or compete in a overseas solo contest. The venue and date dependant upon the winner. There will also be another composition on offer for the winner of the of the 16-21 Air Varie class thanks to composer Lee Morris (an up and coming composer from the north east and a bass player with Westoe Band) plus many other awards and prizes.
Foden's commentated: "We look forward to another great day with top class accompanists, great facilities, high calibre adjudicators and hopefully another 180+ entrants. As usual the hosts for the day will be Foden's Band to ensure all competitors have a great day. "
