The Gillingham Imperial Silver Band are proud to host a joint concert featuring the prestigious Woodfalls Band at the Exchange in Sturminster Newton on the 22nd of June.  The Woodfalls Band are National Finalists in the Championship Section for the forthcoming National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, and according to brass band website 4barsrest, the Salisbury based band are currently rated 2nd in the West of England, and amongst the top 50 brass bands in the WORLD!  The band have also just returned from Blackpool after winning the Senior Cup.

Gillingham’s Press officer Rob Stone said "If you have ever heard them, you would understand why they are so highly rated! Their entertaining and innovative programmes keep the audience spellbound. For anyone that hasn’t been to a brass band concert before, this is also an ideal opportunity to come along and find out that brass band music isn’t all regimental marching, or classical pomp, but it is in fact, a fun entertaining concert, with moments that will make the hairs on the back of your arms stand up, and leave you hankering for more.”

Gillingham band will be sharing the stage with the premier league band, so supporters of both bands are sure to be in for a treat. The Gillingham Training band will also feature during the concert giving the audience a taste of the talent coming through the ranks to keep this fantastic form of music alive.

This concert will also mark the return of Gillingham Band to Sturminster Newton’s Exchange.  “Making use of such an excellent venue as The Exchange is something we look forward to being able to do more in the future.” said Rob Stone. “We hope that this concert will open the door to us holding more joint concerts with other premier bands bringing the glorious sound of brass to the area on a regular basis. The whole band are very excited to be performing at this wonderful venue and to share the stage with such a splendid band, everyone is sure to be in for a treat”.

The performance will start at 7:30pm 22nd June The Exchange Sturminster Newton . Tickets are just £5, available from the Exchange Box office on 01258 475137, or from any band member
