More news from West of England Bandsmen's Festival

To see over 600 brass musicians of all ages on the march is a sight to behold. For the 95th time the village of Bugle will enjoy this spectacle when the musicians march down the Fore Street playing in their 21 individual Bands to the Contest Field for the Annual West of England Bandsmen’s Festival on Saturday June 15th.

Among the twenty one Entries six Bands have entered the Championship Section, where they will compete for unique Royal Trophy, presented to the Festival in 1913 by the then Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall. The present Prince of Wales, HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall, is Patron of this popular open air Festival of brass band music which attracts a large audience from near and far each year.

The Youth and Training Sections once again prove popular, with a good entry, giving the younger musicians the chance to show off their burgeoning skills, on their way to gaining seats in the more Senior Bands.

The Festival, situated since its foundation in 1912, in the heart of the Cornish China Clay Country at Molinnis Park in Bugle, provides ample parking in view of the Bandstand and with comfortable seating available as well, sets the scene for the audience to enjoy the attractive selection of Test Pieces, chosen not only to test the Musicians, but to provide entertainment for those listening. With the renowned Tea Tent and Trade Stands the scene is set for another family friendly day of music making in the heart of the Cornish Alps, as Clay Country is known.
