Champions again! Following on from the band’s success at the SWBBA Contest in November 2018, Redruth Town Band have won the 2019 West of England Regional Championships in the 4th Section, held at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay on Saturday 9th March.
The band achieved this after competing against 16 other brass bands playing the test piece Stantonbury Festival by Ray Steadman-Allen gaining them a place at the Finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in Cheltenham on 14th September 2019. Contest Adjudicators remarked favourably which included: ‘Something really lovely is happening, Really good performance with plenty of shape and fun! I enjoyed this immensely. Bravo band and MD’.
The band have been working extremely hard under their new Musical Director, Andrew Craze and are going from strength to strength. His professional interpretation and consistent approach to the musical development of the band have improved dedication and commitment, which has brought out the best of all the players raising standards to achieve this remarkable result.
With a busy summer season ahead of them, funding to get the band to Cheltenham is now a priority. The band are actively looking for sponsorship from local businesses or any financial support that could assist them with this fantastic achievement.
